Around the Terminal festival for the public planned in May
With less than a hundred days to go until the opening of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, festivities are being planned for the weekend of May 12-13, three weeks before the big day. The public are invited to get to know the new Capital Airport at the Around the Terminal event, where visitors can expect a child- and family-friendly festival on the apron, helicopter flights, music, entertainment and useful information. On 24 May, BER will officially be opened by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit and Brandenburg’s Minister President Matthias Platzeck.
The final construction work is now in full swing, and trial runs at the airport have reached the halfway mark. Relocation from Schönefeld and Tegel to BER starts in April. Since the ground-breaking ceremony on 5 September 2006, just over two thousand days of construction have passed on Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Tegel and Schönefeld will close in the evening of June 2 and on the morning of June 3 the new airport will go into operation.
