World Health Organisation against Zika travel ban

USA reports first case of Zika being sexually transmitted
Even as it declares the Zika virus outbreak to be a public health emergency, the World Health Organization is warning against travel or trade bans.
“The committee found no public health justification for restrictions on travel or trade to prevent the spread of Zika virus,” WHO Director-General Dr Margaret Chan said on Monday.
Yet the virus is creating more dramatic headlines around the world today as the United States reports its first case of Zika being sexually transmitted, not through a mosquito bite.
The rare case was discovered in Dallas, where the person had not travelled to an infected area but their partner had returned from Venezuela.
As reported, scientists believe that Zika is causing an outbreak of microcephaly, or deformity of the head and brain, in the children of women infected while pregnant. The WHO believes that all countries in the Americas except Canada and Chile will likely see large numbers of infections.
