World’s first CS300 awaits launch in Riga

New Bombardier aircraft type to be unveiled by airBaltic
The Latvian airline airBaltic says it will start Bombardier CS300 commercial operations on December 14, on its route linking Riga with Amsterdam. It is the launch operator for the CS300 and has ordered 20 of the new aircraft type.
Bombardier revealed on October 12 that “the first set of six pilots from airBaltic have completed their C Series aircraft pilot initial type rating course, and route-proving exercises with the CS300 aircraft in Europe have been successfully conducted”.
With a total of 145 seats the CS300, says airBaltic, “offers excellent flying experience with such benefits for passengers as wider seats, larger windows, more hand luggage space in the cabin, improved lavatories” and more.
The new aircraft is also much quieter, with a noise footprint that is four times smaller. At the moment, it is also the greenest commercial aircraft in the world, as it is first to have “a transparent declaration of the life-cycle environmental impact, helping to reduce CO2 and NOX emissions by 20% and 50% respectively”, the airline says.
