World’s first Monopoly theme park to open

Monopoly Dreams will cover 2000 square metres of indoor and outdoor space on Hong Kong’s Peak.

The world’s first Monopoly-themed attraction is set to open later this year in Hong Kong, in the third quarter of 2019.

Opening at The Peak – a hill on the western half of Hong Kong Island – Monopoly Dreams will spread across 2000 square metres of indoor and outdoor space and feature augmented reality, hologram and 4D interactive game technology.

Interactive attractions will be based on well-known elements from the famous board game including the Bank, Water Supply, the Jail, Title Deed cards, Chance cards and Community Chest cards.

Gary Chan, chief operating officer of Monopoly Dreams, says that the theme park, created in cooperation with the American toy and board game giant Hasbro, is aiming for the attraction to accommodate over 700,000 visitors per year.

Casey Collins, general manager and senior vice president for entertainment and licensing of Hasbro: “Our partnership with Monopoly Dreams allows Hasbro to further extend the reach of Monopoly to location-based entertainment sector and provide families and tourists with highly immersive entertainment experiences.”
