Year starts with strong growth at CPH

Airport’s first quarter growth in passenger numbers at 6.4%

A 6.4% increase in passenger numbers has given Copenhagen Airport “a strong Q1 2012 performance”. CPH says that the improvement in passenger numbers was generated by increased numbers of international and transfer passengers, supporting the airport’s new World Class Hub strategy. This strategy is designed to strengthen the position of CPH as a premier northern European hub. Transfer traffic saw a 12.4% increase. The Copenhagen Airport shopping centre also reported continuing growth.
“Another strategic focus is to increase accessibility to the growth markets of the world, especially the BRIC countries, and the new routes and frequencies to Shanghai, Moscow and Kaliningrad are therefore important to the airport as well as to Denmark,” said Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
CPH retains its forecast for a full year of growth in passenger numbers. CPH’s revenue rose by 6.5% in Q1 2012. Profit before tax, excluding one-off items, increased by 21.2% to DKK 196.8 million (€26.5 million).
